RapidWeaver Projects to web.me.com/username/
This is an older tutorial only relevant to RapidWeaver 3.6.x users who want to get a website to the web.me.com/username/ (web.mac.com/username) location that MobileMe uses for personal sites and for domain names forwarded to it. In other words, if you want to use MobileMe hosting for a new domain name, then this is where you need to get the files.
If you have RapidWeaver 4.x then this already has the ability to publish in both MobileMe locations, meaning you don't really need this tutorial. If you want to ask more questions, use our form or better still visit the RealMac Forum, and ask a question there. More people will be available to answer it!
Quick Start!
For those who want the bare bones info as they have plenty Mac and RapidWeaver experience, read this!
- Export your RapidWeaver project to a folder.
- Open your iDisk on your Mac in Finder or an FTP app.
- Navigate to iDisk/Web/Sites/
- Copy all the contents of the RapidWeaver project form the same level as your home page's index.html to this location.
- Go to web.me.com/yourusername/ and check it's live!
That should be it! Go get em!
If that's lacking too much detail for you then read the full tutorial, or maybe just the picture of the iDisk below will explain enough.
A Brief Explanation
People with MobileMe (previously .Mac) accounts have had issues using their web.me.com (duplicated on web.mac.com) address, whereas their homepage.me.com (homepage.mac.com) one RapidWeaver 3.6 publishes to perfectly well. This appears to be due to specific details transmitted by iWeb that outside developers weren't made aware of until more recently. When account holders have domains pointed at their MobileMe account, it would appear (as we said earlier) that it is the web.me.com location that is used.
Now, it would have been nice if we had managed to find these details, but no luck for RapidWeaver 3.6 users, you will have to upgrade to Leopard and RapidWeaver 4! We have however found a way around this that is relatively easy to perform. It only requires RapidWeaver and your iDisk open!
Now to get to it!

Export your RapidWeaver site to a folder (found in the File menu) and open that folder to see the contents of your site. Make sure you are looking at the site's root directory, with your home page's index.html in it.
Open a new finder window, and navigate through your iDisk (as shown in the picture on the right) going Web>Sites. This can also been done using an FTP client like Cyberduck.
Drag and drop all your site files into this folder. If you have had an iWeb site in there, it will ask you about replacing the index.html, and any other folders that happen to match.
Now start you browser, and try typing your web.me.com address into it (web.me.com/username), or if you have another domain pointed at your MobileMe account, type your domain name in. Your RapidWeaver site should load up!
There are other files in the folder, and we would leave any that you are not sure about, particularly the '_gallery' folder used by iPhoto as they should still be there.
If you are wondering where RapidWeaver's published files would normally end up, it is the Sites folder in the root of the iDisk. These are the files that show at the homepage.me.com address.
