RapidWeaver Sites on your web.mac.com Site!

This tutorial is for those still running RapidWeaver 3.6, as RapidWeaver 4 can publish to both MobileMe (.mac) adresses directly.
Hi all, and especially everyone from the RapidWeaver Forum. People with MobileMe (previously .Mac) accounts have had issues using their web.me.com (duplicated on web.mac.com) address, whereas their homepage.me.com (homepage.mac.com) one RapidWeaver 3.6 publishes to perfectly well. This appears to be due to specific details transmitted by iWeb that outside developers weren't made aware of until more recently. When account holders have domains pointed at their MobileMe account, it would appear that it is the web.me.com location that is used. Apple trying to keep us on iWeb? You will have to make up your own mind!
Now, it would have been nice if we had managed to find these details, but no luck for RapidWeaver 3.6 users, you will have to upgrade to Leopard and RapidWeaver 4! We have however found a way around this that is relatively easy to perform. It only requires RapidWeaver and your iDisk open!

Export your RapidWeaver site to a folder (found in the File menu) and open that folder to see the contents of your site. Open a new finder window, and navigate through your iDisk (as shown in the picture on the right) going Web>Sites. Drag and drop all your site files into this folder. If you have had an iWeb site in there, it will ask you about replacing the index.html, and any other folders that happen to match.

Now start you browser, and try typing your web.mac.com address into it, or if you have another domain pointed at your account, type your domain name in. Your RapidWeaver site should load up!

There are other files in the folder, and we would leave any that you are not sure about, particularly the '_gallery' folder used by iPhoto etc.

If you are wondering where RapidWeaver's published files would normally end up, it is the Sites folder in the root of the iDisk. These are the files that show at the homepage.mac.com address.

There will be more on this in the forum. Click HERE to see the thread.
